The building in which Dykarbaren is based was built in 1921. Since it was built it has been used for all sorts of different activities including various shops and maybe even had a NK branch here.

In the 1980s, dive courses were held at Sandhamn. The dive bar’s dining room then became a place for diving theory whilst on the bottom floor there was a café and bar business.

In 1996, a cookbook was published called “23 djupa andetag” or “23 deep breaths”.

The dive bar has been owned and operated by Jeanette Florin since 1998 and her permanent right hand man John Bergström. There is also a crew of about 20 employees each year throughout the summer who, together with our guests, make Dykarbaren a great place to be.
